Making “Bucks” On The Knicks Game

The Milwaukee Bucks are at MSG tonight to play the New York Knicks and are listed as underdogs of 1.5-points with the Total at 206.5.

The Bucks are 5-3 straight up in their last eight in the Big Apple but are an even better 6-2 against the spread.

In Milwaukee’s last eight road games, it is 7-1 ATS and in its last 11 when underdogs of 2-points or less, the Over has cashed nine times.

NBA’s Top ATS Teams Meet

With records of 33-21 and 34-18-3 against the spread respectively, the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz are amongst the NBA’s best at covering the line.

The two meet in Utah tonight with the Jazz favored by 6-points and the Total at 198.

Atlanta has been a disaster in its last 10 in Utah, going 0-10 straight up and 3-7 ATS with eight Unders to boot.

The Jazz are also playing their second game in two nights and in their last 10 in that situation, they are 7-2-1 ATS.

NCAA Hoops Betting

With a little less than a month before Selection Sunday and March Madness, teams, fans and the sports betting public are starting to fixate on the big tournament, “bubble” teams, etc.

As it stands, the Kansas Jayhawks are the No. 1 college basketball team in the land and the odds-on favorite at online sportsbooks to take the NCAA Championship Tournament at +150.

Colorado vs. Kansas:

The Jayhawks see action this weekend with a home game against conference rival Colorado.

Kansas has dominated the Colorado Buffaloes going 19-1 straight up in their last 20 games against them. But they are only 2-5 ATS in their last seven meetings with Colorado.

Over/Under bettors take note: The last nine times these two teams have hooked up, they have produced only 1 Over while racking up 8 Unders.

The Jayhawks have lost three straight, against the spread, the last three times they have hosted the Buffaloes.

Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt:
This Saturday’s sked is light on head to head Top 25 matchups and the lone game that features two ranked teams doing battle features the No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats and the No. 19 Vanderbilt Commodores.

It is a key matchup not only because the two are ranked but because they sit 1-2 in the SEC East standings — Kentucky has a 10-1 conference record while Vandy is 8-2.

The Wildcats have struggled in their last nine overall games against the Commodores, dropping six of nine straight up, and they are a dismal 2-6 straight up in their last eight visits to Vanderbilt (including a four-game losing streak).

Ohio State vs. Michigan State:

A Big Ten battle between the No. 12 Ohio State Buckeyes and the No. 11 Michigan State Spartans goes Sunday.

Ohio State is still smarting from a 60-57 loss to the No. 4 Purdue Boilermakers on Wednesday night; the Buckeyes failed to cover as 4-point faves.

The game takes place in East Lansing, and the Buckeyes have struggled in their last 15 games there, with a record of 4-11 SU.

However, Ohio State’s last eight road games against the Spartans have produced a record of 6-2 ATS.

The push to March Madness Betting is beginning, so hang on and enjoy the ride.

Have a good weekend.

2010 NBA Betting Previews

Kobe sits, the Lakers keep on winning…scaring the heck out of the rest of the league. Kobe Bryant has been out since February 5th (nursing a sprained ankle), but missing one of the best players in the world hasn’t tripped up the odds-on Championship favorites.

LA boasts a spiffy mark of 4-0 straight up since he was sidelined, posting a profitable mark of 3-1 against the spread in those games. Over/Under bettors might want to take note that the Lakers have played “Under” the total in all four of those games.

Online sportsbook saw an immediate reaction from sports bettors after it was clear Kobe would be out of the lineup, seeing instant action against the Lakers in the first game and the same scenario took place in the second game. After two straight wins, against good teams, bettors starting coming back the other way and backing LA.

In the defending NBA champions last game against the Golden State Warriors, they came away with a 104-94 home win and Shannon Brown recorded his first double-double ever with 27-points and 10 rebounds.

As the Associated Press so aptly put it, the Lakers, “gave another example of how much championship depth they have.”

The L.A. Times says that Bryant isn’t sure if he’ll play in the Lakers’ next game, on Thursday at home against the Boston Celtics, although MSNBC hints that he might.

In the L.A. Lakers’ last 10 games overall, they are 8-2 SU and have recorded seven Unders.

NBA Trends:

Now they face the Celtics…the Purple and Gold have struggled ATS in their last 11 games against the Celtics, going 2-8-1 against the line.

At home they have only managed to put together a 4-8 ATS mark the last 12 times they’ve hosted Boston.

Look for Kobe to play and the line to move a little on this one throughout the day, as news trickles in and bettors take their shots.

Denver Nuggets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
The Denver Nuggets received some bad news on Wednesday when they learned that head coach George Karl has cancer in his throat.

It is a very treatable form of cancer but the treatment he will receive will be taxing — he expects to miss a game against Golden State on Feb. 25 and another game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Mar. 10 according to ESPN.

How will this news impact the Nuggets in their game Thursday vs. the Cavaliers in Cleveland? Will they be distracted, or extra motivated?

The Nuggets have performed well in their last seven overall against the Cavs, going 5-2 both SU and ATS.

The game against the Cavaliers will be Denver’s first of back to back games and in that situation, they are a very impressive 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS.

Over/Under bettors note that the Nuggets have posted 10 Unders in their last 12 in this situation.

Staying with the Over/Under trends, the Nuggets move on to the nation’s capital on Friday to play the Washington Wizards and in Denver’s last 13 overall against the Wiz, they have a record of 11 Unders and only 2 Overs (and they’re 10-3 ATS on those games).

Kobe’s Status For Thursday Unknown

Even though Kobe Bryant missed another game with an ankle injury, the Los Angeles Lakers continue to roll.

Bryant missed his fourth consecutive game last night and the Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors by a final of 104-94.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Bryant’s status for Thursday’s home game against the Boston Celtics is unknown although Kobe “is not scheduled to see any doctors or get any further medical tests beyond an MRI exam he had last week that confirmed the sprain.”

The Lakers have gone 4-0 SU in Kobe’s absence and 3-1 ATS and all four games have gone Under.

Shannon Brown started in Bryant’s place against the Warriors and recorded his first ever double-double, netting 27 points and 10 boards.

OSU And Purdue Look To Pull Ahead Of Pack

With a logjam of teams atop the Big Ten standings, there will be added importance to tonight’s No. 4 Purdue Boilermakers and No. 12 Ohio State Buckeyes game.

The Buckeyes are 3.5-point home faves and have the edge in the last 20 overall meetings with the Boilermakers, with records of 16-4 SU and 15-3-1 ATS.

In OSU’s last 12 home games against Purdue, it again has the edge, going 10-2 SU and 9-2-1 ATS.

However, the Boilermakers are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 when underdogs of 4-points or less.

Minnesota Aims High

The Minnesota Timberwolves lost on the road to the Detroit Pistons 108-85 last night and are back at it again tonight, with a game in Washington vs. the Wizards.

The T-Wolves are 4.5-point underdogs and the Over/Under is set at 203.5.

Minnesota has struggled in its last eight overall against Washington, going 2-6 straight up and 1-7 against the spread.

However, it has taken the Over 14 times in its last 16 road games and has also gone above the Total in eight of its last nine games when playing the second of back to back nights.

Huskies ‘Dogs With Bite?

Jim Calhoun’s return to the UConn Huskies’ bench resulted in a 60-48 loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday and the team will again look for a win tonight.

The Huskies will face a stiff test however, as they face the No. 3 Villanova Wildcats, listed as 9.5-point road underdogs — the Total is set at 157.5.

UConn has struggled ATS in its last 12 overall against ‘Nova, with a record of 3-8-1 ATS but it has gone 7-3 ATS in its last 10 when ‘dogged by more than 8-points.

Texas AM Aiming For ATS Win Over Kansas

The No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks are on the road to play the Texas A&M Aggies tonight, listed as 8-point road faves with the O/U at 142.5.

While top-ranked Kansas has the edge in the two teams’ last 14 meetings, with records of 13-1 straight up and 10-4 against the spread, it is also a less than impressive 3-4 ATS in its last seven against the Aggies.

In fact, the Jayhawks are 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10 road games with seven Unders to boot.

Texas A&M is 17-3 SU in its last 20 home games and in its last nine games when underdogs of 8-points or less, it is 7-2 ATS.

NCAA Basketball Betting

What’s the biggest betting event of the year in North America? If you guessed the Super Bowl you’re wrong. While the Super Bowl lays claim to being the largest wagered on single event of the year, March Madness betting surpasses the Super Bowl for the sports betting public, albeit the tourney stretches over three weeks.

There is still a full month and a bit of college basketball to be played before Selection Sunday, but the talk of “Bubble” teams and tournament seeds is starting to heat up as we are in the most exciting part of the NCAA hoops schedule.

The North Carolina Tar Heels took it on the chin last night from bitter rival Duke. Sportsbook online had Duke as a -5.5-point favorite, a number they easily covered.

While the Tar Heels won the NCAA basketball championship last season, they lost power forward Tyler Hansbrough to the NBA and have been a shadow of their former selves this season.

UNC is near the bottom of the ACC standings (10th) with a record of 13-11 straight up overall, 2-7 SU in the ACC and a record of 6-15 against the spread.

The Tar Heels got off to a respectable start going 12-4 SU in their first 16 games but have gone 1-7 in their last eight.

North Carolina is now preparing for a game against the intrastate rival North Carolina State Wolfpack on Saturday.

As mentioned, the ‘Heels have been of struggling as of late straight up, but they have also been an awful play for sports bettors, going 3-11 ATS in their last 14.

In their last 13 games, North Carolina has a record of 3 Overs and 10 Unders.

The Tar Heels are equally unimpressive in their last 11 road games, going 4-7 SU and 3-8 ATS.

However, UNC could be poised to win Saturday as they are 10-3 SU and ATS in their last 13 at North Carolina State.

Another traditional power, like North Carolina, the Connecticut Huskies have fallen on hard times, at least lately.

Ranked No. 12 and 14 respectively in the AP and USA Today preseason polls, UConn has pretty much fallen off the radar.

While the Huskies are 14-9 SU overall, they are only 8-13 ATS.

Connecticut has a Saturday home tilt against the Cincinnati Bearcats on deck.

UConn has been a force at home however, going 16-4 SU and are 8-2 SU in their last 10 games at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.

In the last five tilts between the two, the Huskies are 4-1 SU and ATS.

While the UConn Huskies are near the bottom of the Big East standings, the same can’t be said of the No. 4 West Virginia Mountaineers and the No. 23 Pittsburgh Panthers and the two meet on Friday at the Petersen Events Center.

WVU and Pitt sit third and fifth in the conference respectively.

The Mountaineers have not fared well when visiting Pittsburgh, going 3-9 SU and 4-7-1 ATS.

The Panthers are 17-3 SU in their last 20 home games and are 14-1 SU in their last 15 at Petersen.

We’re a little over a month away from the start of March Madness 2010 so there’s plenty of time to warm up with your college hoops betting.

Good luck this week.
